JIM ROBERTS - Now entering his second year as Director of the Fairfield Fencing Academy, Jim was a 3 year starter and captain of Sacred Heart University's NCAA Division 1 Fencing Team where he fenced foil.He was a two time All-League honoree Head Coach of Daniel Hand High School 2011-2012. Recently, Jim has taken over reigns of the Fairfield High Schools fencing program, in his first year the team took 1st place in Men's Individual Epee,3rd place in Men's Individual Sabre,3rd place in Men's Team Epee, 5th Place in Women's Foil and 4 of his fencers received ALL-STATE First Team Honors.
JIM BARNETT - Trained under former Olympian and Pan Am/National champion Uriah
Jones, Jim brings 35 years of elite fencing and coaching experience. Jim was the Key force in bringing Fencing to the Nutmeg State Games. Jim has trained fencers to compete at the NCAA DIV I and National Level Competitions. His Students have gone on to fence at Penn State University, Sacred Heart University,Vassar, Boston College, Rutgers, University of North Carolina, Brandeis and Haverford.
JUSTIN DION- A Coach at Fairfield Fencing Academy Justin was a four year starter for Sacred Heart University, All-League honors four seasons, 11th at the 2010 NCAA championships twice, and was named All American for 2 years. Placed 5th at Division 1A Summer Nationals. This past February Justin Fenced in the World Cup in Italy and has been invited to train at the US Olympic Training Camp this April
Dr. Tom Vrabel -. Coach Vrabel has over 30 years of experience both coaching and competing in all three fencing weapons. He has been the head fencing coach of Sacred Heart University, since 2005 building the men's team into a persistent top 10 contender in the country. Previously, Coach Vrabel held assistant coaching positions at Brown University and US Navel Academy, where he developed several NCAA All-Americans. During his years of training he was mentored by U.S. Olympic Coach Zoran Tulum and Olympic gold medalist Witold Woyda. Vrabel earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut, and his Master's and Ph.D from Cornell University.
