   Open/practice fencing is encouraged at all times during Academy hours!
  • All classes have rolling admission. If you miss a class, not to worry, we'll get you up to speed.
  • Most classes meet several times a week. You do not have to show up for every class. Whatever fits your schedule, fits ours. 
 
Fairfield Fencing Academy Schedule and Fees

Mini-Musketeer
Ages: 6 - 9
Equipment: Provided
USFA Membership: Non-Competitive
Class Meeting: Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 4:15 – 5:00 PM

Class Description: The “Mini Musketeer” will focus around coordination development and basic movements needed to fence. Fairfield Fencing Academy coaches will conduct testing after the eight-week session. When a student completes the first session they will be tested for their “Musketeer” patch. Once they come of age they may enter the “Squire Class.” After the first Eight week session students must decided to join as members ($60.00/month).

Price: 1st session: $298 sessions. After: $298.00 + $60.00 monthly membership

Squire Introductory Session
Ages: 10 - 14
Equipment: Provided (for the first session)
USFA Membership: Non-Competitive
Weapon: Foil
Class Meeting: Tuesday and Wednesday 4:00PM - 5:00PM and Friday 5:00PM - 6:00 PM, Saturday 11:00AM - 12:00PM 

Class Description: The “Squire Introductory Session” will focus around coordination development and basic movements needed to fence. Fairfield Fencing Academy coaches will conduct testing after the eight-week session. In order to graduate to the next level, the student must receive their first two badges (Footwork I, and Bladework I) and a certificate of completion signed by their coach.  Once completed, the students may move up to the Musketeer Class. After the first Eight week session students must decided to join as members ($60.00/month).

Price: 149/month (two month session). After first session: 149.00/month + $60.00 monthly membership

Musketeer Intermediate Class
Ages: 10 – 14
Equipment: Must provide full set "Whites"
USFA Membership: Non-Competitive
Weapon: Foil
Class Meeting: Tuesday – Thursday from 5pm – 6pm, and Saturdays from 10am – 11am.
 
Class Description: The Musketeer class is for intermediate level fencers who have completed the 8-week squire session and have received their Footwork I and Bladework I badges. As well as their certificate of completion signed by their instructor.
 
Students will receive a study guide with the material needed to complete their intermediate training. Students may sign up at the front desk for private lessons to help review the material covered during class time. Testing for Bladework II and Footwork II badges will be done at the end of the session and are required in order to advance onto the Junior Varsity Class.
 
This class will fine tune the introductory movements learned in the Squire Session. Classes will include warm up games, coordination development, reaction speed development, agility training, and basic footwork, and bladework skills.

Price: $199.00/month (two month session). After: $398.00 (two months) + $60.00 monthly membership

Junior Varsity Class
Ages: 8 – 14
Equipment: Must full set of "whites"
USFA Membership: Competitive
Weapon: Foil/Epee
Class Meeting: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 5pm – 6:30pm. Saturdays from 11am – 12:30pm.
Class Description: Students may graduate to Junior Varsity level class only when the Footwork I, Bladework I, Footwork II, and Bladework II badges have been earned and the students have their certificates of completion. The Junior Varsity class will emphasize technical development and introductory tactics they can use.  Continuing from the Musketeer Class, there is a stronger emphasis on coordination, agility, reactions and the introduction of electric bouting. 
 
A lesson notebook will be given to each student and they are expected to take notes after each class. Students may also take private lessons with a coach to help better understand the material covered in class as well as prepare for competitions.

Academy Logo Badge is earned when the student competes in their first USFA tournament. To join the Varsity Class, a video of the bouts they fenced at the tournament must be submitted to Coach Jim for evaluation. The student must also get a signed recommendation from their coach handed in to Jim Roberts, director of the academy.

Price: $249/month (three month sessions) + $60.00/month membership fee

Varsity Class
Ages: 11 +
Equipment: Must bring full electric gear
USFA Membership: Competitive 
Weapon: Foil/Epee/Sabre
Class Meeting: Monday – Thursday from 6:30pm – 8:30p, workout session on Saturday 9 AM - 10 AM
 
Class Description: The Varsity Class is the next step after the Junior Varsity Class. The classes are two hours long with a strong emphasis on technique, physical stamina, agility, and tactical understanding of both 5 tuche and 15 tuche bouts.  Students are expected to arrive 10 minutes early and complete their warm up before class starts. Class will be composed of footwork, bladework, muscle development, endurance, stamina, and practical on strip application.

The students will receive a lesson notebook for note taking after classes, during lectures, after lessons, and during tournaments. 
Private lessons are available to students who want to further their training.
 
To Earn their weapon badge student’s must Earn a USFA classification of an E, to earn their Competitive Badge they must earn a USFA classification of a D.

Adult Membership
Require:  USFA Non-Competitive membership
Equipment: Must bring full electric gear
Ages: 14+
Weapon: Foil/Epee/Sabre
Class Meeting: Monday – Thursday from 7pm – 8pm, Saturdays at 11am.
 
Class Description: Adult classes are beginner to intermediate level. Classes will focus on footwork and bladework as well as practical approaches to fencing and on strip demonstrations.  Adult Members may go to any of the four adult classes and will be tested for their patches when their coach recommends they do so. Adults may also join the footwork conditioning class on Saturdays from 9am – 10am as well as the Adult Fence With Fun class on Wednesday nights from 7pm – 8pm.
 
Adults wishing to compete may schedule private lessons with a coach or join the Varsity class which meets Monday – Thursday from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

Price: $249/month + $60.00/month membership fee

High School Fencing
 
Want to fence in High School but your school does not have  fencing team? No Problem. We can set up a program for you and your school mates. This program is designed for the highschooler that want to fence at the competitive level. We will train you and your school mates with the goal of fencing in the State of Connecticut High Tournaments to be held in February and March of this year. Yes, that right!  You can fence in the State High School Championship tournaments under our USFA badge!!Contact us and we will put a program together for you and your school mates.
